Terms of Use

Effective 16 April 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Narratr mobile application ("Narratr", "the app", "we", "us", "our"). By installing or using Narratr you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The Service

Narratr converts text-based books you import (EPUB, plain text) into spoken audio using on-device and cloud text-to-speech ("TTS") engines. Some features additionally let you record a short sample of your own voice for voice-cloning playback. All book content and recorded voice samples are processed in connection with the features you choose to use.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use Narratr. By using the app you confirm you meet this requirement.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Narratr offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions ("Plus" and "Pro") billed monthly or annually through your Apple ID account.

4. Fair-Use Cap

Paid subscriptions include up to 150 hours of new cloud-TTS generation per calendar month. Listening to previously-generated audio from your cache is unlimited and does not count toward this cap. The cap exists to prevent automated abuse; normal listening sits well below it.

5. Your Content

You retain all rights in the books and voice recordings you import. You grant Narratr a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely to provide the features you use. Book text and recorded samples may be transmitted to third-party TTS providers (see Privacy Policy) to generate audio. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any book you import.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

7. Intellectual Property

Narratr, including its code, design, and trademarks, is owned by us and protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you beyond the limited right to use the app.

8. AI-Generated Output

TTS audio is generated by machine-learning models and may contain mispronunciations, artefacts, or inaccuracies. Narratr is not responsible for the accuracy of synthesized speech and makes no warranty that it matches the original text in every detail.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Termination

You may stop using Narratr at any time by uninstalling the app and cancelling your subscription. We may terminate or suspend access if you breach these Terms. Subscription cancellation is handled by Apple and refund policies are governed by the App Store.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
